It was first revealed in the Pokémon Presents on Februas part of the Pokémon 25th Anniversary event alongside Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. It is the first known project in the action role-playing subgenre to be undertaken by the studio. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is being developed by Game Freak. The mythical Pokémon Arceus will play a major role in the story.
It was stated that the objective of the game would be to create Hisui’s first Pokédex.
